Privacy Policy
This policy explains how DICOM Viewer: Raykin (“Raykin”), made by ORIENTPRO, handles information on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. We have kept it short and plain.
The short version
- We collect nothing. Raykin’s App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”.
- There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDK in the app.
- Raykin has no servers. Your images are opened, processed and stored on your own device, and we never receive them.
- Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to share or send it.
1. What we collect
Nothing. Raykin does not ask you to create an account, and it does not collect or send personal data, health data, usage data, identifiers or diagnostics to us or to anyone else. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party software development kits (SDKs), and we run no servers for it. We, the developer, never receive your images or your information.
Because we receive nothing, we have nothing to sell, share or use for advertising.
2. Where your scans are kept
Everything Raykin does, from reading discs and files to showing images, organising people and visits, searching, measuring and building 3D views, happens on your device. Your scans and notes are stored in Raykin’s private storage on that device.
Your device’s own iCloud or Finder backup includes this storage unless “Exclude scans from device backup” is turned on in Raykin, under Settings › Import & Storage. The choice is yours. Those backups are made by your device and Apple, not by us, and Apple’s privacy policy applies to iCloud.
3. Moving scans between your devices
Nearby Transfer sends scans directly between your own devices over your local network. The connection is end-to-end encrypted and paired with a QR code or a 27-digit code. Nothing goes through the internet, and nothing reaches us.
A Raykin Archive is a backup file that you create. It is encrypted with AES-256 using a passphrase you choose. We never see the passphrase and cannot recover it, so keep it somewhere safe.
4. Hospital QR codes and portal links
When you scan a hospital QR code or open a portal link, Raykin opens only that hospital’s page inside the app. Anything you download there goes straight to your device, and Raykin sends nothing anywhere else. The hospital’s own privacy policy applies to its website.
5. When you share
Scans leave your device only when you share or export them, for example by AirDrop, email or a USB drive. You choose where they go, and the privacy terms of the app or service you use apply from then on.
Clean Share (Raykin Pro) makes a copy with names, IDs, birth dates and hospital details removed and the dates shifted, and flags text burned into images so you can cover it. Please review what you share before you send it. Your originals never change.
6. Purchases
Raykin Pro is bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we receive no payment details. Apple’s privacy policy covers the transaction.
7. Permissions
Every permission is optional. Raykin asks for one only when you first use the feature that needs it, and you can change your answer at any time in your device’s Settings.
- Camera — to scan hospital QR codes, photograph old films and scan paper reports.
- Local Network — to find your own devices for Nearby Transfer.
- Face ID — to lock the app.
- Notifications — for follow-up reminders.
- Calendar (add events only) — to add a follow-up you choose. Raykin cannot read your calendar.
- Photos (add only) — to save an exported image when you ask. Raykin cannot see your photo library.
8. Widgets, Apple Watch and Spotlight
Widgets, the Lock Screen and Apple Watch hide names and exam titles unless you turn on “Show details on Lock Screen, Watch & widgets” in Settings › Privacy & Lock. A Focus filter can hide details too. Scans appear in Spotlight search only if you turn that on.
9. Locks and screen privacy
You can lock Raykin with Face ID or your passcode, and lock individual people. Raykin shows a warning banner while the screen is being recorded, and can hide its content in the App Switcher. Show the Doctor keeps a single visit on screen, and leaving it needs Face ID or your passcode.
10. Deleting your data
Delete Everything, in Settings › Import & Storage, erases your Raykin library from the device. Files you have exported or shared, and Raykin Archives you have made, are separate copies; delete them yourself if you no longer need them.
11. Your rights under GDPR, CCPA and similar laws
Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it and object to its use, and the right to say no to its sale.
We respect those rights. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing on our side to access, correct or delete. Your information is only on your device, where you control it directly: you can view it, export it (for example as a Raykin Archive) or erase it with Delete Everything. We do not sell or share personal information. If you have a question or a request, write to us and we will answer.
12. Children
Raykin is not directed at children under 13. Parents and guardians may keep their children’s scans in Raykin as part of the family library. Since Raykin collects nothing, it collects nothing from children either.
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date and say clearly what has changed.
